Decided to take up a new hobby that gets me out of the house. Played with rx7's as a teeneager and have been a mazda fan since. Picked up my first b2000 ten yearsago but only kept it for a year. So, I decided to go find another one. Wow what a difference it makes finding older import down south. The quanity is nill and the quality is junk. After few months of searching found one in my price range $700.
Pics from Craiglist posting...
Hey its a beater but ran for $700 and kept running until a flat tire lead to a blown engine....long story but another time
Longblock from JIS out of Dallas $750
Pics to come:
Installed weber 32/36 carb with the new engine. Eliminated all emissions and plugged water inlets on bottom of intake manifold. Weber was picked up off craigslist for $150 with adapter plate. Unfortunately the seller ordered the incorrect plate. If anyone is interested it fits 86+ b2000 engines. Accelorator pump was bad on the weber so had it rebuilt and rejetted to fit my application.
Previous owner installed switch and button to start truck because ignition went out. Picked up ignition switch from local yard and corrected all the wiring screwups. Dash lights are AMAZING...
Replaced starter, radiator, alternator and fuel pump since engine rebuild in July.
ooooh tires..... the old 14in ones had to been on there for 10 years. I am not a fan of using chevy wheels on a mazda but I am on a budget. 17in rims cost me $100 from local tire shop. $50 for a aluminuim bit to bore the rims.
Working on making it run perfect before any cosmetics. No radio for a 75 mile commute was killing me though. So tore apart a portable Ipod radio/dock and installed it into the dash. Still have to finish molding and making it look some what decent. Single 6 1/2 in speaker in passenger door isnt cutting it either but works good enough for now.
Still undecided what to do next... Only enough cash to do one at a time.
Debating about turbo'ing it just to get a little more power out of it.
Needs to get lower to the ground
or just going to order a header and buy the parts truck and start swapping out the cab. "currect cab has bad rust thru on drivers side door hinge area.
I will snap a couple pics with my cell of the dash and weber carb. Also any info on how to lower or bag my truck please send me links....
