Hi, newbie here. I have a weird problem. I put one of those cellphone charging units in the 12V on the dashboard and when I pulled it out, the tip of the stupid thing stayed in there. I have no clue how to get it out. I tried a pair of needlenose pliers but no go. Anyone have any suggestions how to get it out?

Magnet?

Tweezers?

Chew some gum and put on a dowel, stick to part and pull out?

If that part is truly stuck, can you drill a hole and use a screw extractor?

Sounds like an excessive (relative) amount of current hit it, potentially welding it to the CIG lighter. Just take patience with a pair of pliers with the truck OFF and it should come out

Ring clip pliers?

Magnet wouldn't work because the piece that's stuck is plastic. I tried tweezers but not fine enough. I would do some serious damage with gum and it's not deep enough to drill. It's just a little thin piece of plastic lodged at the very back. But I like your creative problem solving Cusser, thank you!

That might be my only hope, Emjay. Will keep working on it. thanks.

I don't know what that is but I am going to check it out right now. Thanks Dan!

All else fails its not too hard to replace the whole unit.

Pliers that open when you squeeze them - instead of closing.
