Hey guys I bought a 86 b2000 with a bad engine and I'm having trouble finding a good 2.0 if I find a 2.2 can I just swap all my parts from my 2.0 on it like my intake manifold and carb because I want to run after market intake and exhaust manifolds and I do t want to have to deal with all the wiring with the fi system also I don't want to dump a ton of money in the motor by buying ecu wiring hareness and what ever else i need the motor i have something hard went thru the intake and killed everything it came i to contact with ie pistons head cylinder walls so and info will help I just to go thrash and clip up some road reflectors

so what is your actual question? if its just a matter of switching parts over, as far as i know, all the outer pieces are the same.

That's what need to know I just want it all to bolt up I really don't wanna do any major work

i don't know for 100 percent but from what i understand, all the outside accessories( alt, intake, exhaust, so on and so on) are all interchangeable. May want to wait for a reply from one of these other guys that know more about the mazda motors. I did a different swap right off the bat when i first got mine so i dont really know much about these.

Well thanks for the advise what about the 2.0 and the 2.2 in the 626 are they the same engine as the truck ie bell housing and motor mount mounting holes

id think the motor itself would be the same...you may need to change the motor mount bracket that bolts to the motor.

The fwd 2.0 and 2.2 from the 626 is the same block as our trucks. The head is set up differently though and will either require you to fit a rwd head or a bit of machine work on the fwd head as well as swapping to a red camshaft. The distributor on fwd fe and f2 engines mounts on the back of the head via an extension housing, the camshaft protrudes thru the back of the head into the housing to drive the dizzy.
You can machine out the dizzy hole on the front of the head as it is the same basic casting which will then aloe you to use the fwd head with a red cam and dizzy.
Engine mount holes on the fwd block are the same as rwd, though the mounts themselves will need changing over.

You will not be able to machine out the 626 to produce a dizzy hole in the front of the 12 valve head. You will need to find a Mazda Bongo, E2000, 4 cyl. 929 that has the dizzy hole in the front. You will also need to get the cam shaft from the same vehicle since the gear that runs the dizzy will be on the front of the cam. The 626 like you said has the dizzy in the rear, so that cam wont work.

My daily driver has a true 2.0 Mazda Bongo engine running a Megasquirt stand alone ECM. My project Lowx4 has a Ford Probe 2.2 converted to a "Bongo", running an '89 Mazda 626 ECM and modified harness. My project green machine has a Mazda 626 2.2 converted to a "Bongo" with a rare carbureted manifold (sent to me from Finland) with a Weber 38 on it.

I also have one more true 2.0 complete Bongo engine in pieces, and one more cam, cam backing plate (where the dizzy goes into), and a true Bongo intake manifold for another conversion.

As far as putting a 2.2 in your 2.0 truck, it will work. transfer the intake with carb straight over. Exhaust and accessories too.

Good info orange, I'm actually considering a Mazda Frankenstein myself, hence how I know about fitment.
I'm planing on a 2.2 with fe-t pistons, turbo manifold and throttle body injection inlet manifold and TBI setup. Possibly with a 12 valve head if I find one cheap.
Still need to figure out what ECU I'll run though. I have the fe-t ECU and I also have an ems stinger sitting around. So either of those may do.
