so i just rebuilt my stock carb today and it was a pain in the <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_exclaim.gif" alt=":!:" title="Exclamation" /> but i got it done. while it was apart, i was moving the linkage and noticed the primary butterfly at the bottom of the carb only opens about a quarter of the way open and the secondarys are fully open at full throttle. it apears to have be ran that way for a while by looking at the carbon marks on the under side of the carb. i was just wondering if this is normal or if something is messed up somewhere. i still have the carb off and can take pics if i need too. thanks for the input

ok new question..... mabe the rebuild didnt go as well as i thought. now i got the carb back on and drove it and the secondaries come in too soon. in other words i cant cruise its either on full throttle or nothing and if i try to ease it, it jerks me back and forth. im getting frustrated help!! the linkage is correct also ive went over it about 30 times. could it be just a bad carb or something i did????

Check your vacuum lines to the secondary. (the vacuum diaphragm)
Has to be connected to the right spot.

hmm mine has a vacuum hose going from the diaphragm to the base of the carb but the secondaries seem to be opening by the linkage. i didnt really think about it being vacuum operated. if i were to take the vacuum line off and move the throttle, should the secondaries open?? and here is a pic of the carb at wot

I may have a different carb than you the throttle only effected how far the secondary could open but load/vacuum would actually actuate the linkage for the secondary. quite clever really

Check that out.
p15 might be something to look at.

Basically the idea goes.
Air/gas = primary butterfly(throttle position) + secondary (vacuum x throttle position(as a percent))

That way if you're puttering along you're on primary (low load/rpm/vacuum) until you put your foot down (increased load/vacuum).

If you're hooning (high rpm) along and put your foot down you have high vacuum so the secondary is going to work straight away up to the % of the throttle you have pushed down.

It won't go PAST how much you put your foot down, but it may go LESS than how much you put your foot down.

Can anyone please shed some light on stock b2000 carbs.

wow thanks!!! i been looking for diagrams of the carb but havnt been able to find any. now ill tear mine back off and make sure theres no backwards linkage or something dumb like that ill update if i figure the problem out

well i got it finally i had a peice of linkage backwards i feel dumb now but at least i didnt have to take it to a shop or buy a new carb. thanks Jenko your a life saver
