today i put on a timing belt, igniter, plugs, and cleaned a few things up.
after installation and cleaning. it started and ran til it warmed up and then died out... afterwards it would restart momentarily and instantly die. which i believe is a issue with the ignition. now it has a spark issue, the coil had been hooked up wrong and still not sure if i have it right. anyone have a list of what goes on + and what on -? i am getting spark out of the coil. and a very very small amount out of the plug wire. when you test the coil with a test light on + it stays lit! and i took the new igniter out and no matter where you test it, it give a constant 1. ohm
when it was running it sounded great no ticks no click a lil smoke but it was just burning out excess crud. been parked now for sometime i assume bought it last week for 500 bucks and figured id throw my talents at it. but everyone needs help from the pros now and then!

only thing i can tell you bro is this i got the same prob and only thing i do i cut it on and hold my foot on the gas for 30 secs not hard just a small amount until the gas runs through and gets a little warm. tap on the gas a few times while doing it.. it should idle maybe rough but idle if not you might have the wires wrong or you battery might be a little almost dead or weak. im not an expert thats just how i have to do my truck

If your coil was hooked up backward, it would not run... I wouldn't worry about it, at this point.
Look at your ignition switch(electrical portion) as a possibility.
When they go bad, the often exhibit the very same symptoms you described.

i replaced the coil, check my wiring with the haynes, and did the jump with a fuse and it ran like a dream. so it is the ignition switch. anybody selling one? instead of rebuild i'm going weber. 32/36 or 38 unsure what ill pick.

Most autoparts stores sell the switch.
People who have used the Weber 38 have suggested that it would have been better to use a 34/34.

webercarbsdirect.com shows the 32/36 is the kit for the b2000. k675.
for 269

is it possible to clean the points in the ignition switch? even worth it? i mean the cheapest switches i can find are like 80-90 bucks. budgets a little tight for that!

Anybody know which wires goes to pos and neg at the coil?

There are striped yellow ones, striped black and white one, blue wire, etc.
