truck idles fine. fuel filter is good, but when i drive it, motor bogs down if i push the throttle more than 50% it feels like the carb is being flooded or something. i can get the truck up to 2500 rpms and then the same thing happens, no matter how hard on the gas i am.

has anyone else had a similar problem or can anyone tell me where to look? i tried some spray in carb cleaner, my carb is definately prettier now but no gain in performance.

what i can say from my 86 b2000 i junked the factory carb and bought a weber my truck was doing EXACTLY what u said runs perfect now new weber 32/36. kit to me u almost gotta be a rocket scientist to rebuild that carb.

I'm having the same issue with my b2600i fuel injected. I'm checking plugs and filter this weekend.

Just a few tips.By just cleaning the outside of the carb does help. But if it needs a rebuild do it,or swap to weber. Now some things people tend to over look are the charge air filters on the charge air pipes(3 hoses on air cleaner). Those need to be changed out.Next how is your pre cat convertor on the exhaust manifold? It is bolted below your exh manifold and can be all blocked up with carbon!Along with your cat convertor and muffler.Do the simple low cost things first. The filters inside the air cleaner charge air housing (auto zone sells some filters that can be cut to size to work). The pre cat can be done two ways punch screens out or soak and or flush carbon out.Unless your carb is having issue's with the air to fuel valve or float or otherwise.I tried to get this correct but have been sick the last couple days and kind of recouping so want to point out some low cost ideas.Tired I am and congestion is kicking.

i also forgot to mention that when i stomp on the gas pedal in park/nuetral, there is a odd sucking noise from the carb. like its trying to suck in some air and its not working, ill try those charge air filters over the weekendand ill get back to you.

kind of angry right now because my dad bought a b2000 with a weber already on it and sold it for pretty cheap before i could say i really wanted it...

change out those filters yet?
EGR getting stuck maybe? Have you messed with the timing at all?
Had some what similar problem last fall with my B2000 but it was after I did the weber/holley swap. Changed fuel filter out, blocked off emission or removed completely but left the EGR on there. Took off the EGR and it was just full of crud, not sure if ya can clean them out but I just made a block off plate.
Also if ya can start removing that emissions stuff, maybe some vacuum leaks in all that rat nest of hoses.

i cleaned the piss out of those filters, put the filters back in, same issue. truck ran great when the three hoses up front where unplugged, so i am just going to remove them and block off the holes where they enter into the exhaust.
another question though, wish i had a picture. But the little cone shaped thing under the box that is connected by the 3 hoses, is that supposed to allow air to pass through freely? i thought that might have been the problem so i pulled it of and checked it out and air flow was pretty constricted.
also i dont entirely know what the EGR is or where its located so i dont know if its getting stuck.

Isn't this indicative of clogged catalytic converters? Like this is what one would do to test for that?

i have no idea, im not a mechanic, i just like lowered trucks but know nothing about them.

The cats are clogged. I could hold my truck to the floor and it wouldnt break 3000 rpms. Gutted both cats and its running great again. Now I gotta put one on to get the emissions test done.
