So this morning while taking the kids to school I noticed that my truck was acting a Lil funny and while I was driving whenever I got close to 3k rpm the whole truck would shake and felt like It was missing and right after releasing the throttle it would almost die and then pick back up and carry on smoothly. Wtf? Right? When I got home I checked all the plug wires and the usual stuff(fuel filter, vacuum hoses, carb base plates, coil wire, ect) and came up blank. I then proceeded to rev it to between 2500-3000 and hold it there and it sounded like there were backfires in the exhaust. So what could this be? On a side not the only thing different I've don't to the truck recently is I moved the vacuum advance line to the intake not the carb and I've already tried moving it back with no difference.

Plz help me guys I gotta work tonight and I'd rather not have to stay under 55 on my commute.

either your timing jumped (if its backfiring, like BOOM!) lol, it took me a couple of months, my truck had been doing the same, maybe not as bad, but I kept noticing that A. my mixture screws had to be turned In too far for my truck to run right (supposed to be between 1 and 2 turns for weber) and I kept looking, finaly I noticed my brake booster hose was cracked really bad, when I had set the intake aside to do the head and rings, it stretched it. got too much air so I had my screws set to compensate, hints why they weren't where they were supposed to be. id almost guarantee u got a leak somewhere. did u cap the other advance port on your carb after moving it to the intake? does your advance unit leak, try sucking on it and see if it holds suction. when mine runs lean, it does the same thing, rpms drop below idle after rev like its going to die, then picks back up. and I notice a sputter right as im letting off the clutch, sorry for the book.

I think I may have figured it out... I pulled my plugs put and blew all the shit outta them (fresh oil change lost of new oil to burn off!) and then it ran a Lil bit better but the miss was still there at 3000 so I stared at the motor for a few and realized my damn choke was closed! So I readjusted that and it's been smooth all the way up the rpm range. I'll keep u posted. Sorry for being dumb and not looking at simple shit first!
