I have an engine with FE stamped on the block and 2.0 stamped on the side. It has a head with adjustable valve lash. But the water pump and oil pump are from a 2.2. The 2.0 oil pump and water pump do not bolt up right.

The timing belt on the motor has 108 teeth. A timing belt for a 2.0 uses 109 teeth and 110 teeth for a 2.2.

This motor has the same idler and tensioner path as 2.2 but the shorter deck height of the 2.0. That's why the belt is different.

Is this a bongo or JDM engine?

Searching 108 tooth belts I found 87-92 mazda/ford 626 to have this belt.

But looking at 626 us model it calls for a different timing belt.

I have rebuilt this engine but want to change the timing belt. With the 108 tooth belt the engine stays on timing marks when rolling it around by hand a dozen times. I have found a belt I'm going to check out but it wasn't in stock so having to wait. This belt is a Gates part T094

Anyone run into this??

Its not the belt, check your cam pulley, 2.2(2200) is solid w/ A,B,C,D timing marks, 2.0(2000) is 3 spoke w/A,B,C timing marks. they bolt up the same but the circumference of the pulley is different, therefore allowing you to rotate engine several times before the timing marks become out of time. I think you have a B2000 head w/ B2200 pulley.

Yes, you have a JDM 2.0. Its almost exactly like the 2.2 but the block height is about 1/2" shorter.

When I replaced the belt on one of mine, I found a Honda belt that had 108 teeth and it worked perfectly. I don't recall exactly which Honda one it was though. Honda Accord maybe?

I went to Napa and they had a reference book that showed which Honda belts had 108 rounded teeth.

I doubt anyone would be able to feel a power difference.

Difference between
the 2.0 and 2.2 or 2.0 and JDM 2.0

Haha true that one. What I trying to say is the extra little push like a 2.2
