Point in case was that:
1. The Chilton book for these trucks has an odd diagram showing the timing marks, for the other years they show the alt belt and pulley and such but for the 83 it shows 2 concentric circles...
2. Crud loves to build up on the tip of the pointer, sometimes to the extent that it looks like a solid end...
3. Timing marks are on the closest-to-the-radiator fan/alt pulley edge, white=8BDTC yellow=TDC, set and forget.
And yes, my timing was off and after setting it i got another 1/4 Clockwise turn out of the idle adjustment.
Still not sure about how well i am doing at tuning the Weber. I'm shooting for fuel economy so I am trying to go LEAN. I know it'll never be fast so i don't try.
