So the choke on my 626 stays open and will not close when gas is depressed
i can set the fast idle cam to close, but as soon as i hit the gas the plate falls wide open.

I don't think you need the choke ? I removed mine and still works like nothing happened .

The choke should be open always after about 5-10 minutes of running.
It should be closed only when the engine is cold, opens as the choke heater warms the bimetallic spring.
Why do you expect that to close when you press on the pedal ?
