Water Pump connection

I installed my water pump on my rebuild and was wondering how to insert the metal pipe into the housing. I know the O-ring is used, Do I just press the pipe in with the O-ring on the pipe flange?

You need to use a little bit of silicone sealant on the o-ring and then push the pipe in. Further up the pipe is a flange with a hole on it and that is where the pipe needs to be secured to the block. The flange is under the exhaust manifold so its kind of hard to find if you have already installed the motor and exhaust manifold.

Got it, So O-ring goes on the pipe flange first? then silicone and then press it in?

Sounds about right.
