idle jump?

when i first start its stays normal
then after i tap the pedal its jumps to a higher rpm.
after a few minutes its drops back down. anyone know whats wrong? im not much of a mechanic

it might be the choke. it might be sticking.

so i should rip out that stock carb and pick up a weber huh..
i got a friend willing to sell me one for 100. just need to buy gaskets.

Mine used to do that, the linkage in the choke got wallowed out and it would jam. *One of the many reasons I went with the Holley 5200 weber copy.*

whats needed to run the holley 5200? if i were to get a bare carb.
Gaskets
throttle linkage?
anything else
