fuel gauge problems please help

hello all i am having some problems with my fuel gauge my truck has a mech fuel pump and we just recently bagged my gf's truck and put a fuel sell in it and we are have problems with that gauge aswell but we have a post about that already but back to my truck my gf's gas tank and sender is now in my truck and the sender has a electric fuel pump in it and i dont know if i have the gauge wires set up right

there are 3 wires yellow, black with red dots, and black with red strip

i believe the black with red strip is the fuel pump so i have the black with red dots wire and yellow wire hooked up for the fuel gauge and the only reading that i get is FUEL and i really would like it to work anyone have any information that would help me out????

gas gauge who needs a gas gauge i just find a stick and open my fuel cell and put it in and hope it registers on the stick lol i forgot to mention i have ran out of gas a few times and the last time was on my way home from lowdown (downtown seattle under the convention center on i-5 it sucked a$$)

yea i dont have a fuel cell and i have run out of gas quite a few times
