Hey guys, I need some help and I just cant figure it out. I bought the truck a while ago and when I got it the guy thought the head gasket didnt set well when he replaced it. I was like ok, no problem. Well its still smoking and
I cant figure out what the next step would be to do. I ran block sealer through it which seemed to work with all the water leaking issues. I replaced the intake manifold gasket so it doesnt leak anymore. I changed the oil just in case there was water still in it. I changed the plugs, which had crap on them you wouldnt beleive. What am I missing? I dont think its the gasket or water leaking into the motor. I am pretty sure the block seal did its job. So could it be crap just built up in the motor, maybe do an induction service on it and blow out the gunk in the block? I just dont know where else to go from here. Any help will work, and I plan to have the engine rebuilt in march. Cant pass emissons, Ijust want it to not smoke and blow clean. You know. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Does it quit once it warms up? Are you losing any water and or oil? Smell any burning smell or anything of the like? need more information.

Well, im losing a little oil. I think that is from the cam seal leaking tho. The amount is not anything really. Cant tell if i lose any oil. The water level stays good. I havent had any problems with water since I put the block sealer thru it. As for it smelling like its burning, yeah a little. The main weird part is it smokes bad for the first 5 minutes of start up, yet only smokes a little from then on. Any thoughts?

I had a similar issue with my B2200. When I got the truck it smoked just a tad on startup which didnt bother me since it had 300000 miles on it. I ran it hot and cracked the head. I swapped the head and gasket and it smoke white smoke like a freight train on startup. So I assumed with the new head and valve seals it bumped the compression back up. I tore it all the way down and put new bearings and rings in. It runs great with no smoke now. But it does still have that dam tapping lifter. I HATE THAT TAPPING!!

How many miles are on it? Sounds like to me that the valve stem seals are bad in it. Thats why it smokes badly on start up and then fades once it is warmed up.

Its has about 176000 on it and the motor hasnt been rebuilt that I know of. I plan on having the motor rebuilt in march. How much work is it to replace the valve stem seals? I dont want to put a lot of work into the motor before I rebuild it in march. The object of putting in new bearings and rings sure seem like a lot of work and dont want to spend hundreds of dollars before the rebuild. Any more advise is welcome. Thanks for the help so far.

Well mate, in order to get the valves out of your rig you need a special tool called the valve spring commpressor. Just make sure that when you compress it that the compressor is on there snugly or you will have a valve spring that will kill you and will leave holes in your drywall or where ever your working. And to rebuild your engine, for my b2600 its like $302 bucks or somethin like that online. It could also be your rings are to far gone for the block sealer to work. Does it blow blue or white smoke after the engine gets warmed up?
