i just bought a 92 b2200 and the heat isnt working very well. i can let the truck warm up for about 20 minutes and the temp gauge maybe goes up 1/4 way and the heat bearly warms up at all. and as im driving it gets cooler. any suggestions?

Not sure when you are saying gets cooler do you mean your temperature gauge doesn't show the truck warning up or do you mean the interior heating system?

For the interior I would say the reason it's getting colder because air is taken from your cowl and into the interior while you are moving, and because you have a bad blower or heater coil you aren't getting any warm air.

If the temperature gauge isn't going up it could be either a bad gauge or thermostat.

well the interior heat gets cooler. and also the gauge goes down while driving. if the thermostat was stuck wouldnt it over heat? or can they get stuck open?

yes thermostats can get stuck open and they can get stuck closed, if your temp gauge goes down then your thermostat is stuck open. And what i did was i flushed the whole radiator and the engine and the heater core and i got it to warm up a lil bit. Just like Rob said it could be bad blower or bad heater core. just my two cents

i knew they could get stuck closed. i wasnt aware they could get stuck open. ill replace it and flush the system and see what happens. the blower seems to work fine it blows hard. and im not loosing any collant or smelling any collant so i assume the heater core is good.

i dono for sure but they get stuck closed most of the time but once in a while they can get stuck open. And catch it quickly if it gets stuck closed trust me on this i ruined my motor cuz i didnt know the thermostat was stuck closed. It still runs but its a pain in the ass, but all well you live and you learn. But good luck mate keep us updated on how its goin and welcome to the forum mate.
