i have a 89 mazda b2200 5 speed and im replacing the shifter lever seat bushing and also bought the dust boot that goes over the lever and bolts down to the tranny housing with three bolts

question is how do i get the old/new dust boot on? does the stick lever come apart?

You have to find the roll pin, drive it out and twist the chrome lever with something like a pipe wrench to break the glue loose, then you can separate it from shifter stub which the plate and boot will fit over. when you put it back together the large boot on the console will cover up the pipe wrench marks.
