Did you break the head bolts or just dont have them?

Dont use used head bolts and deffinatly Dont do studs!!!!!! head bolts are made to strech a lil bit to increase torque specs. I would suggest shopping around, maybe contact a machine shop that specializes in rebuilds, they may have them a lil cheaper

i didnt break them i actually have two sets of used ones, but on the new head gasket it says not to reuse the old ones...

whats wrong with useing studs? there made not to strech so your torque is bang on no? im also thinking of bolting a turbo on

anyone know where to find them? i know they are out there...

No more power than these trucks make you can use the stock reused headbolts on them and just torque about 5 extra pounds. I have done it multiple times with them and never had a problem. But with the talk of turbo goodies that goes out the window.

yea some say you could reuse them three times before they get to brittle and crack. a buddy of mine said he could make studs at his machine shop im just worried he wont temper the steal properly and they fail

i should of put WTB head studs in the subject line lol

Save your money and re-use the head bolts.

They are not going to cause you any problems.

Make sure you clean out the holes they screw into though. If you don't, that will.

Head bolts are thicker than wheel studs. And just like wheel studs, you don't have to replace them, just because the torque was released to service the wheel.

I think the torque on the head bolts is about 85 foot pounds, just like a wheel stud.
