Tips for better fuel economy

I did new plugs, rotor, wires, dizzy cap, plugs. still havent changed fuel filter, new air filter. Kinda poopy mileage im seeing, quarter tank to 100 kms..the truck in question is a 91, any ideas? Can i advance the timing? these computer controlled carbs boggle my mind

You gotta give more time for replies. Yes, you can advance the timing but you need a more scientific approach to your mileage. Fill the truck up, drive say 200km, refill and see how much fuel was used. You can't really go by 1/4 tank got me 100km, too much room for error. 20mpg is pretty much the best I have heard of, give or take, out of a 2.0 or 2.2. 2600i will do a little better with fuel injection.

dang 20 mpg huh...kinda crappy...my carbed 5.0 does a lil better than that or is that combined? Im thinking maybe a KA-T out of a 240 for the summer might be a fun and fuel efficient route

Yeah, bout 20mpg combined. My dually does better, too but the price of diesel SUCKS!!!! Plus, it's alot easier whippin in n out of places in da Mazda. ALOT of people do motor swaps. Hard to belive these things are gutless and the mileage sucks but its just how it is. I wanna stuff a carbed 4.3 and 700R4 from an S-10 in mine. I've had a few S-dimes and the 4.3 is my favorite motor for a mini.

i dont know how many mpg's im getting but it's way way better than the rx7 i was driving lol a tank of fuel will last me 5 days driving roughly 15-18 miles a day, i try and keep the tach under 2k (i know super freaking slow, but it's only city driving) that's how im kinda stretching the fuel, was actually wondering if anyone has used e85 on the carbed b's without mods

I haven't tried E85 myself, but from what I know about it it takes more fuel for the same input. ie you would have to run larger jets which will burn more fuel. The up-side is that it doesn't detonate as easily and its cheaper by the gallon.

Your going to get bad fuel millage driving in the city then you would on the open road.Loose the emissions crap and you mite see an improvement but that depends on where you live,you could get in some trouble for it LOL
