so i just rebuilt my motor ('90 mazda b2200 4cyl carb) and recently put it back into my truck and hooked everything back up to where they were. everything worked fine before the rebuild (except the fact that the head was blown, but electrical and what not), but now it won't start. new coil/dist cap/rotor/plugs/wires. has spark at cap and plugs. its getting gas and air too. i put seafoam in the gas to stabilize it a couple months back and also put new gas the other day. i re-aligned all timing marks and set correct firing order and still nothing. the engine will turn when i try but it won't kick over. the only thing that needs replacing now is the battery. im confused as to what the problem may be, im sure its something simple i am overlooking

Sup koa! Doesn't it have something to do with TDC and BDC of the pistons?

i got all marks lined up (crank/cam/dist). triple checked that. if anything the dist may be a tooth or two off but i can't get anything out of it. it just cranks.

Pull valve cover, dizzy cap and #1 sparkplug. Rotate the engine by hand. Ensure that just as the intake valve closes, the piston reachs TDC and the Rotor Button on the dizzy is pointing at the contact inside the cap for the #1 plug wire. Provided your timing marks are good and if the above is good, it's not a timing problem. If this doesn't diagnose the problem, double check the intake AND exhaust runners in the head along with both ends of the intake manifold and header to be sure there's not still shop rags, etc. left in them.

i havent exactly checked the valve train assuming the shop put it together right and aligned TDC like they said. ill try it next time i get to work on it though. as far as foreign objects, i know there are none because i did the break down and re-assembly of the motor

I had a similar problem with mine at one point and it ended up being a loose wire on my ignition switch, it would just keep turning and turning and I tried everything and it ended up just being a loose wire

ill check that tomorrow. but it worked before the rebuild?? idk ill check anyways
