OK so Im cleaning out my EGR valve because i failed emissions and I can't afford a new one. so i got the bastard out and there is all this carbon build up (i think?) clogging the larger hole, It almost looks as if it should be there but I don't think so. Its not oily but like powder caked together, I can scrape it off and it breaks off in chunks. I don't know but it doesn't look natural.. I wanna get this done tonight so any input would be great. Thanks in advance!

By the way, i got it soaking in seafoam now. Hopefully I will pass Emissions in the morning, Ill keep you guys updated

I've got two operational EGR valves here, PM with price if interested (new ones go for over $200). I have a Weber and no emissions tests, so I don't use one.

Thanks but actually Im about to order a weber probably christmas morning. My friend just moved to a NON emissions county So im just going to register it in his name. Next year (2013) i wont need emissions. Also my emissions were better but not passing, The guy keeps giving me free retests and just gives me my readings cause I smoked some green with him lol. But yeah so I passed for the NOx but now my HCl levels are higher. and since I cleaned the EGR my truck doesn't smoke nearly as much as it used to when i start it after it sat over night. HC is just gas that didn't burn right? my truck keeps stalling but it will stay running i just have to shut it off randomly so I can keep moving forward. Im thinking maybe a float in the carb is bad? I dont think its the timing because it Idles fine but it hesistates and bucks when im accelerating but stops quickly after. so frustrating.... Atleast I don't have much invested.
