Well, after getting a 83 rx7 and an 05 scion xb I gave my old mazda pickup to my dad. I still have full access to the truck and drive it quite often, me and my dad got to talking recently and we both decided it was time to overhaul the old truck. We are going to do everything ourselves with the help of a couple of my friends. Me and my friend will be rebuilding the motor, do to the fact that it is burning oil and seems to only be running on 3 cylinders (can't complain it made it 200k) but where is a good place to get a full rebuild kit and how much should I be looking to spend?

From Mazda it was roughly 300 here in Canada for the gasket set.

I bought new NPR pistons and rings, and bearings through an Ebay retailer for under $120 USD. I got the Fel-Pro head gasket kit. I had the cylinder head re-done by a machine shop. I did connecting rod bearings, but not main bearings. I did not remove the engine on my B2200 to do all this, last October. No more smoke or oil burning now, had 183K miles, still had good compression (165 psi in each).

Not worth it......Do an engine swap and be much happier.

It was WELL worth it to me, took $700 out of pocket, and 3.5 days (vacation days).

Yeah I wasted a hell of a lot on my rebuild. A swap would have been better, and wow that's cheap Cusser.
