DOES ANYONE KNOW THE BEST WAY TO CHANGE SPEEDO CABLE ON MY 2.2 I WAS TOLD FROM THE TRANNY THEN PULL THE CABLE OUT, THEN I WAS TOLD FROM THE CLUSTER BUT THERE IS SOME KIND OF SAFETY CLIP...DO I UN CLIP IN AND TAKE OUT WHATS IN THE TUBE OR REPLACE THE WHOLE TUBE? THE SPEEDO CABLE LOOKS LIKE A SNAKE WIRE USED FOR PLUMBING...IS THAT HOW IT SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE? I GOT FROM A PERSON OF CRAIGS HERE...LOL

Your cable should look like mine here removed so I could grease it.To remove unscrew from trans first, then unhook it where it is secured from the driver side frame up towards the firewall. There are several clips holding it in place. Then once done and cable is free from outside/underneath then remove your dash cluster, pull it forward, and unclip from back of cluster inside truck.Just remove the WHOLE cable and or part and slide some slack towards the firewall going inside the truck some it will give u more pull forward when unhook from the actual speedometer itself. The speedo cable is black casing with a cable inside, you do not take any part of the cable apart. It is a simple remove old cable, reinstall new cable as a whole part.I sure hope my pic and explanation helps and any more ?s.Now my pic shows the actual inside cable removed from the protective cable (black) bc I greased it.Once you pull the cluster it should come out with ease, and there is a rubber grommet on the firewall(engine bay side) that has to be removed, once your cable is off inside pull cable from engine bay OUT,from the interior. It takes a little time and be patient.

Idk about lowering affecting the speedo. To the best of my knowledge the only thing that will change your speedometers reading is changing wheel size.Unless I am missing your ? about the speedometer cable just rephrase it.Only wheel change alters the reading for accurracy.I run 15in tires and only slightly off real mph and had a shop do a real check on a machine yrs ago.

Anytime on helping out.Normally most ask ?s about the cable making noise and removing the whole assembly and pulling the inner cable that works the speedo just needs to be cleaned and greased and reinstalled.Glad to help.

If you pull the inside cable OUT I use either white lithium grease or any multipurpose grease just lightly coat the snakey coil and slide it back into the black casing. It takes some time to push it back in and don't go loco on over lubing the inner cable, just slows the cable (inside) going back thru.If your just lubing the ends at the speedo end or trans connection use white lithium grease.Sold at napa in a wheel bearing grease container. Now you do not have to use this specifically but works better in various temps over multipurpose grease, for wheel brgs,or say lubing u joints etc.Ok
