Trying to track down a small oil leak last night and it's coming from the distributor. Looks like it's coming through the shaft and leaking out under the cap. Any suggestions? Should I just replace it?

It's most likely the o-ring behind the driven gear is busted up. You can pull the dizzy apart and replace it. There was a thread on MT with dis-assembly I'll try to find it and post back up. Is it coming from outside the housing or inside the cap? There is an internal seal, but I don't think it would be that hard to replace.

I'll look on MT and see if I can find some info. It's leaking inside the cap not bad but enough to leave a little spot under the truck. I had this problem before and put a junkyard distributor in it but parts are getting hard to find down there lately

Yes that is def the oring on the distributor.I am not sure if it can be bought separate but does come with a hg kit for sure.Check advance auto or auto zone, napa under distributors in a search for said ORING.Unless someone finds it first. Not sure on size, too tired to dig out my kit,so just sharing my knowledge of the issue.

I found just the outer o ring online so I'm going to call my buddies at carquest and see if they can get it for me. Thing I'm going to need the inner seal too. I cleaned it up and put it back together last night so I'll keep an eye on it. Found a thread over on MT but there wasn't much info and none of the pics showed up. I'm sure it's nothing I can't tackle
