I have rebuilt and repaired quite a few of these engines, and I NEVER use the oil pan gasket that is always supplied in the kit. Use the Ultra grey RTV sealant.
Here's a shot of one of my engines with the windage tray installed and getting ready to install the last layer of Ultra Grey sealant and put the pan on......
.........you want to have everything cleaned and do this all at one time, as it takes a few minutes to get it all installed and torqued to spec, so not having to stop and clean parts helps keep the RTV from drying up as your installing everything.......the final torque down of the pan needs to be done while the RTV is still wet really.
I just squeeze a little RTV on my finger and wipe it on both surfaces of the parts and keep doing that until it has a thin layer (can't see the metal through it though) along the joining areas......then assemble it together. When it's all together and tightened down to spec, I wipe the squeezed out RTV down flat and then when it's all dry, I paint it.
Works like a dream and no leaks at all for the life of the engine........I believe Mazda did this same thing on the B2200......but they may have used a pan gasket on the B2000 since it doesn't have the windage tray.
Here is a pic of the oil pan just installed.......I'll see if I have more pictures of the process also, and post them here if I do.
