Sounds good!Just keep adjusting those valves ! Slowly the tick will get better! Just don't over tighten them! Goodluck! Enjoy

Yes, VERY IMPORTANT to retorque cylinder head bolts when cold (and adjust the valves if it's a B2000) and to change oil and filter at about 500 miles in on the rebuild !!!

Alright my truck has had some ups and downs since ive rebuilt the engine. exhaust leaks, bolts in the exhaust broke and gasket disintegrated. muffler had a hole i could put a 50 cent piece in, and the list continues. Fixed many of them, but now my main 2 problems are this
1. Tapping all day every day, sometimes it goes away for about a minute but comes back. Ive replaced the hydraulic lifters, remachined the head as it had a leak, thus why i just went for a rebuild. Any ideas?
2. My truck is a pain to turn on, i have replaced the starter, swapped the battery with one i know is good, and still about 50% of the time my engine turns as if the battery is dead.

Just kinda annoyed with both of these probems, truck drives great, i can go up a slight hill or bigger and not have to downshift to 2nd anymore. But i get people asking me all the time, why is it tapping so loud. and its embarrassing in the parking lot when it wont turn on.

Thanks in advance, hope to get some insight

make sure u got good connections and check your voltage while the truck is running. it should have close to if not 14 volts and maybe a little under 12 while not running. your alternator might be going bad. could just be a weak starter too. id get b2000 lifters cause u can adjust them to get rid of the tick.

Alright, ill double check volts, i believe that's what it was at before, but doesn't hurt to check again. Its a new starter, bout 2 months old.

As for lifters, i wasnt sure if that would work or not, but i might have to take a trip to the junk yard again.

Thanks for info
