the crank gear has a notch and should be inline with the mark on the oil pump

This helped me, from Axel Breaker Earl:

The best way to set the timing belt up right, is to remove the lower timing cover and align the notch in the crank gear to the mark on the oil pump.........I don't try to use the harmonic balancer with the lower timing cover in place to set the timing belt. I only use the HB mark(s) to set the ignition timing.

Thanks guys I originally set it by the gear and oil pump but seen that pic in my Haynes manual with the pulley on so I redone it that way, ill go back and do it right. Thanks again.
