hello all i got a leaking valve cover, well thats what i im thinking on my 89 mazda b2200 its a new motor and my valve cover is polished out so i was kinda easy on the RVT i used the gray or whatever and only used it in the corner caps on the head and in the channel on the valve cover itself. now i see some valve cover gaskets come with the rubber bushings for the bolts thats what mine calls for im assuming im using the gasket that came with the new engine. Also i didnt put any on the head side i can see like seepage on the back side towards the firewall i thought it was that cap on the back of the head but thats dry just see seepage on the back and rear of the cylinder head on exhuast side whats do ya guys recommend gasket wise and should i put a bead down on the cylinder head side of RVT??

you shouldn't need any RTV silicone. The rubber gasket should be sufficient.

I'd say use Mazda or Fel-Pro valve cover gasket without sealer, available with 7 new rubber seals for the bolts too. Tighten evenly but don't overtighten.

ok so no sealer even in the camshaft caps on the corners?? i should be good?

Are you thinking of this?

For the valve cover gasket itself, I'd say either no sealer or possibly a THIN coat of Permatex Aviation. If I remember, I used Permatex Aviation in the places shown by the arrows in the photo.

I've seen Permatex Aviation at Ace and at O'Reillys, and it is removed by alcohol.
