during the weber swap i noticed standing oil under the carb in the intake. told either or lots of blow by? (whats blow by, obviously somthing to do with pressure) or a bad pcv valve. i replaced valve, and about a week or two after, i noticed oil bubbling out of the filter i have on top of the valve cover. y would this be happening? is it bad, cause the truck is running great! im sure these are related, but i still dont know exactly what blow by is and i just wanna make sure everythings good cause my dads been driving it more than me. could it be a clogged oil passage hole in the head gasket? it seems like im getting enough oil to the head, it really doesnt tick much. thanx in advance, truck is runnig awsome otherwise.

Blow by is exhaust gases etc "blowing by" your piston rings, these need to be ventilated out.
I'd check that valve you replaced, seems like you have too much crank case pressure, it should be heading out the valve.
Not pushing out your filter
I know you just replaced it and so it should be cool but...... just to be sure

hmmm makes sense. thanx. ill do some research and try my other pcv valve later and see what I come up with.

is there a stronger pcv valve that I need? the pcv valve is hooked to a hose that runs to the intake manifold right under the carb. is this correct?
theres so much vacuum that it sucks the pcv valve too much. meaning that it opens so far it actually closes up the other side. nothing can get through. I sucked and blew through it and a certain amount of pressure opens it with no problem but thers too much vacume and it just sucks it shut. hope this makes sense. I need to get it fixed b4 I blow a manifold gasket or somthin

guess what.. the sputters back damnit. it hadn't done it in a few days and yesterday it decided to give me a hint in the middle of an intersection with a mack truck coming in at about 60 mph with about 4 inches of snow on the road. great timing. the hint was, during the sputter, its still getting fuel as there was a cylinder or two pulling me across the road barely. I was moving at about 7 mph and accelerating very very fucking slowly. and it sounded like fouled plugs trying to fire or something. I had it floored and still barely moving when all the sudden either 1 or 2 cylinders kicked in and it took off like normal from about 10 mph. none of my plug wires are touching, my rotor button has a little wear not much, tried a different dizzy, and im running ngk plugs. wtf. does it ever stop? would this be related to my pcv valve problem?

sounds like some of the symptoms mine had when the head gasket was going out.

fuck. I was thinking the same thing. that maybe my head gaskets going. I bet that's what it is. I looked at the oil on my dipstick and looks good. but with the massive blow by issue I have, oil comes out of the filter on the valve cover and it looks kinda milky. not using much coolant at all but I think u may be right. other suggestions are still welcome by all means if this isn't the problem then I will bow on my knees to the gods in my commode. bout to do the headswap anyway so should have it taken care of soon I hope.

I didn't notice much coolant usage until it quit running and would fill a parking lot with white smoke. But it slowly got worse with the stumbling etc until it finally blew the gasket (after hitting a deer and overheating a few times). Upon fixing the head gasket it runs great and all hesitation etc is gone. Look for some of my posts--had a thread about it running like crap.

thanx man. kinda sounds like mine accept I can fill up a football field with blue smoke on cold start. haha. but the stumbling has just been slowly getting worse. I could tweak the carb and timing here and there and it would help for the time being but id just do it all over again the next day. and I know its getting the fuel and spark, or atleast two or three of them are. lol thanks for the input. hopefully the snow will go away so I can get out there this weekend and get some shit done.
