Peppy121 how about some details about the truck? B2200? manual transmission? OEM Carburetor? Did you do something recently for the engine?
peppy121   +1y
yes it is a b2200 and yes it is a manuel and i had to put a new one on it cause last one was srcewed up behond repair by the last guy and could not fix it beside that nothing i just put this one on

I assume you changed the Carburetor? Another OEM Carb or a weber?
peppy121   +1y
it is a oem one

Are both carbs showing the same symptoms? Have you checked the throttle cable linkage if anything is sticking? How about the electric choke linkage setting? Also are all the vacuum hoses hooked up?

Are you in possession of a shop manual for your truck?

As you mentioned when idling (in neutral) is high and when in gear it drops.
Does it die out eventually?
When you did a test drive how did it perform?

i looked at every thing and it is fine and hook up right and i dont own shop maneul and the truck does not die - the idles drops down to where it suppose to be when in gear

I assume that the truck runs normally but it idles high in neutral. Here is a site to check further into the high idle problem. If you go there it shows some of the parts mentioned to test or replace them.

" target="_blank" target="_blank

My 1988 Mazda Workshop manual says to test a few things or replace them.
For excessively high idle speed:

It says to replace the idle compensator or the high altitude compensator

Adjust or replace the idle up system
Repair or replace the deceleration control system

Just for your info this one of the reasons I changed my OEM carb for a weber. I didn't want to test the components especially if these trucks are rare in junkyard heaven...
