Hey guys. I had another couple questions for all. My 91 b2200 needed a starter when I bought it. So I finally got home from work and swapped it out. The old starter did absolutely nothing. No sounds or movements. While removing the old one there was a single black wire with a harness type connector on the end unplugged. So I put the new one in and it takes a few bumps to the ignition for the starter to actually turn over. When you try to start it it will click but not spin. If you click it fast it will finally turn it over but it's slow and rough. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a clutch issue I had and slave cylinder being bad (not for sure on that yet) it's not fully disengaging the clutch and the starter won't spin. I jacked the rear end up and it started easier but was still slow and rough. But while in the air the driver side wheel started spinning slowly in neutral.

I was also wondering if the starter needed shimmed? Is that possible? It seems like it is holding too tight on the flywheel.

This is all on a 91 B2200 2wd 5 speed manual w/ air ride. Thanks guys.

You need to have the black wire connected to the starter solenoid.......there should be a blade style terminal for it to connect to on the end of the solenoid/starter.

The starter solenoid is on the starter and the black (it's green on the new starter) wire comes off the starter. There was another wire plugged into the solenoid (I believe it was black) that doesn't come off the starter.

Here is the blade connector.......disregard the broken portion of the solenoid......

Mine looks a little different. The wire your referring to is the power to the solenoid right? Cuz that wire was plugged in on my old starter. It's another wire coming out of the starter with a connector on the end that I don't know where it goes. I would assume its the ground but my truck starts sometimes and it hasn't been plugged in?

Can you take a picture of it and post it here?

I'm out of town for work right now so I can't get a picture. I will when I get home though and post it here
