Hi everyone, I'm new to the B Scene and to this forum(although I may have made an account a while ago, but I forgot the info), but I have a problem and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Generally speaking, my clutch works great! But once in a while, the pedal starts getting soft, and then a few minutes later it gives out completely, and I can't get it into any gear unless I turn the truck off. I've had the problem once or twice before, but we replaced one of the cylinders(I can't remember if it was the master cylinder or the slave cylinder) and it seemed to fix the problem. But this happened to me a couple days ago, and I got stuck at a small intersection. Fortunately I had read about driving without the clutch and was able to learn how to do it well enough to make it home. I felt like the best driver in the world Lol What's funny is that it works just fine again o.O But anyways, in all seriousness, can any of you help? Thanks! Here's a picture of my baby, a 1992 Mazda B2200.

Sounds (again) like a clutch hydraulics issue.

If mine, I'd replace both the clutch master and clutch slave cylinders, and check for leaks on the two flexible clutch lines leading to the slave cylinder.

I've had several of these go out in the 19 years I've owned my '88.

Bench-bleed the new clutch master, and bleed out all the old fluid through the bleed valve in the new clutch slave cylinder.

Sounds alot like my issue! The same thing happened to me and I believe Cusser and a few other guys told me the same thing. When I get home from work I'm playing on doing what Cusser said. My problem is now interfering with my starter though! But good luck haha your not the only one doin it!

Thank you! I will see if I can get it to my mechanic soon and see if that works.

Replacing these and bleeding is not that difficult a job.

However, if you end up taking the truck to a mechanic, let mechanic confirm such diagnosis, don't just say "replace both clutch cylinders", tell him the symptoms you're having.

And let us know what such repair ends up costing, that information helps us all.

Funny this is what happened to me just yesterday in my truck...lucky i was close to work and had it in 3rd gear made it, but its parked for now and we got to push to a lift or I can maybe start it in 1st gear and drive it.

Our mechanic suggested we replace the Master Cylinder, so that's what we had him do. He drove it quite some distance around town and in our area and says he had no problem. I just picked her up an hour and a half or so ago and was driving around town in stop and go traffic, parking a few times to go into stores, and it ran beautifully! It looks like the problem may be fixed, but I won't jump to any conclusions yet. It cost me a little less than $20 for the master cylinder(my dad probably got it from Advance or O'Reilly's), and it cost me about $30 to get it installed, but normally he would have charged a little bit more. He's our go to guy so he cuts us a little slack Lol

Not sure if you know or not, but you could drive it without the clutch. Obviously it's not a good idea(especially in stop and go traffic) unless it's an emergency, but if you get good at it, it will get you where you need to go. Like I said in my original post, I had to learn very quickly how to do it Lol Here's what I had read a few days before:

it turned out to be the slave cylinder which was leaking so easy fix.
