1993 SE-5 B2200, 5spd carb'ed, regular cab, standard box, 2wd. No A/C

Cold start, it idles high (carbed) performance is good. Once it warms up & attempting to accelerate, it falls on its face until something like 2500 RPM's is reached. Found #2 plug to be constantly wet / fouled.

Took it to the Stealership & it was diagnosed as weak lifters / valve train issues.

I didn't like the diagnoses & wanted a second opinion. Took it to an independent & was told they thought it was the same thing. I think my dad showed them the paper work from the dealership. The independent shop agreed on valve train issues & I'd need a cylinder head.

I ponied up & paid them to do the cylinder head & guess what. Same problem. The independent shop has had the truck for a year & they are out of ideas.

I did find if you pumped the gas pedal & fluxuated it getting the RPM's up, let the clutch out, you could accelerate normal.

Any thoughts / ideas?

Check for vacuum leaks and make sure your egr is working properly. What you are describing is a large vacuum leak with the hesitation. Don't know about the plug being fouled, might be related might not? And if worse comes to worse put a Weber 32/36 from Redline on it. Gets rid of all the vacuum lines and is so much simpler.

What specific Weber 32/36 carburetor for a 1993 are you referring to? I see eBay has alot of choices. Manual choke? Electric Choke?

I want to keep this as simple as possiable.
What do I do with the vacuum lines once removed? Just cap them off? Are the instructions good?

buy from Redline not ebay. Ebay has nothing but chinese nockoffs. Been there done that. Instructions are step by step.

It won't be egr because it's useless after removing the factory carb. Check your mixture screws and make sure they are not to lean. My Weber 38 would do the second thing. Backed mixture screws out a 1/4 turn at a time until it went away.
