Alright, I have a vacuum leak, I've traced every line on the diagram ( " target="_blank" target="_blank ) and after all that, all the lines were fine.

I just finished rebuilding my head, and this hose came off. I tagged the end that attaches to the air filter, but neglected to tag the other end, foolishly relying on friction to keep the damn thing on. I was wrong.

it's the one I'm pointing at.

This is not the line for the duty solenoid valve.

I'm going to search the forums while I wait for an answer, but I'm trying to get this done in the next hour, so I'm posting first.

Thanks
Marcus

Hey Marcus,

That hose hooks to the tee that is down on the side of the intake manifold right below the carb on the valve cover side.........it's located between the head & intake, right below the carb.

There is a short 2" piece of hose that comes off of the intake there, then the tee fitting with one port of the tee pointing up, and the other pointing down.......the hose to the air cleaner base hooks to the port on the tee that is pointing up (of course) and the lower part of that tee fitting that points down, has a hose that runs under the intake and connects to one of the ports on the water thermovalve that is screwed into the underside of the intake manifold.......the water thermovalve is a blueish/green color.

I'll see if I can find a pic of the tee fitting you hose hooks to.

Here is a pic that shows your vacuum tube in question with a purple golf tee inserted into it to temporarily plug it closed.......

And here is a pic that barely shows the tee fitting that the air cleaner hose connects to. The tee fitting is just to the left of the blue water thermovalve in the pic below.....

OK......I found a pic from the top showing the hose in question......and I placed white dots on it so you can see which hose I mean, and the end that connects to the air cleaner I have a purple dot on it.

Thanks alot. I would never have seen that on my own.

I have one more trouble hose. I have this ~18" long black rubber hose. Markings "FUEL VAPOR >PCV/EEC< 3/16 INCH (4.8MM)". It's just floating around. Not hooked up to anything on either end. I vaguely remember thinking "I need to remember where that one goes, right there" while looking around the intake side. That didn't work. It's not on the diagram (like I said, I already traced all those hoses) and it's not clamped, and it's not one of the three that go to the fuel pump.

I've tried to blow smoke through my lines to find the spot, but everywhere I've tried smoke just comes up out of the carb. What hose should I blow smoke into to try and find it this way?

This is great, this is my first time doing anything remotely as complicated as replacing the head gasket set, and it would be awkward to have to go to a shop for one line.

Where is the other end hooked up at? I'm thinking it may be the vent hose from the fuel tank that runs between the smallest metal gas tank hose down by the A/C condensate drain (pass. firewall area in the engine compartment) and the charcoal canister.......
