Dnj rebuild kit vs piecing it

Was wondering if I should get the rebuild kit or just piece it together. I'm not a motor guy in any way. I just want to rebuild the stock motor. It is a carb so going to get the 32/36 weber I think. I already have the header. Any input would be nice. Thanks.

I have bought a few of those kits, probably no worse or same as buying jobber parts from any auto parts store - but cheaper.

One thing, I have always used a fel-pro or OEM head gasket - even if you buy the kit and throw out the head gasket, you are still ahead.
