So, I picked up this little beauty in Dunlap TN. My 83 is now for sale. block has been fixed, and she hold water, runs and drives, but I'm done with that truck and it needs a new home...if any of you are interested.

Anyway, I picked up a 1989 b2200. over 200k on the odometer which doesnt work anymore.

So here are the problems. Please point me in the right direction on any or all of them.

BTW, picked it up for $600 and drove it nearly 80 miles home with no issues.

Gas Gauge doesnt work....no big deal if the spedo/odometer worked
Spedo doesnt work
Turn signals dont work
Electric choke no worky and not hooked up
Wire from fuse box to white wire on back of ignition gotta be connected to start, disconnect to turn off
16" Pathfinder rims and tires on the rear end.
Brakes are mushy (probably need to be bled)
chevy radio hot wired right to battery and bolted to the floor.
No cup holders

Gas Gauge doesnt work....no big deal if the spedo/odometer worked ....Typical with these trucks. Pull the sender and bend the contact arm tighter against the resistance windings.
Spedo doesnt work ....check your speedometer cable
Turn signals dont work ....check the fuse
Electric choke no worky and not hooked up ....plug the choke wire into the back of the alternator
Wire from fuse box to white wire on back of ignition gotta be connected to start, disconnect to turn off ....Pictures would help, but you're probably goint to need a new ignition switch.
16" Pathfinder rims and tires on the rear end. ....I don't see a problem. get new wheels if you don't like them.
Brakes are mushy (probably need to be bled) ....looks like you nailed this one.
chevy radio hot wired right to battery and bolted to the floor. ...it doesn't belong there. take it out and throw it away.
No cup holders ....open the glove box door. the only cup holders these trucks came with are there.

Thanks for all the answers. I'll start messing with it more tonight.

Now for an interesting problem. Sometimes it charges....sometimes it doesnt. With all the other jacked up electrical rigging I would bet there is a loose wire someplace. There is also a misc. ground wire hanging out about the starter. seems as though the alternator is intermittenly alternating.

The ignition switch problem doesnt really bother me that much, my 83 has a toggle switch and a push button for an ignition switch.

I have other wheels and tires of my 83 to replace the 16's. The 16's dont bother me either because it looks ok like that, but that means I have to carry 2 spares. The easy plan is to just swap them out with the 14's off the 83.

I agree with all of SinCityLocal. The only thing I would add is my turn signals didn't work because the flasher was dead. My truck takes the Ep33 flasher relay. It's in the drivers side kick panel area. I tested by connecting a jumper, making the turn signal turn on solid. That's when I knew to order a new flasher.

Turn signals decided to work today....and then they didn't.

I'll look, but they are going to be pretty shallow. On the 83 the kids poked out the speaker in the top of the dash and I just used that. It was pretty handy right there.

High idle has been fixed. Going to go mess with the fuel gauge now....and bleed out the brakes.

I had issues with my turn signals when I bought my truck too, it turned out to be the trailer light connector that somebody put on it was wired really badly and was intermittently shorting.

Bleeding the brakes ended in snapping a blender....however no fluid came out so I guess its fine until I get around to fixing it.

And I decided not to mess with the fuel tank today. It was getting late and I have to work in the morning.

Turn signal problem fixed with a fuse.
