So the one in this truck has been disconnected. Is it going to hurt anything? Its still there but the wire is just wrapped around something.

Also the wire for the electric choke goes no where. Rumor hasit that it should be connected to the back of the alternator but there isnt a place for it.

The signal from the 02 sensor is needed to help with fuel trim. The mixture control solenoid in the carburetor won't work as a fuel trim device and your gas mileage will pretty much go into the toilet if the 02 sensor is disconnected.

Of course, once that stops working raw gas kind of starts to wash the cylinder walls and the engines wear a lot faster, forcing rebuilds and that sort of thing.

The choke wire pulls a 7vdc signal from the back of the alternator for the choke heater, again trying to lean the trucks out quicker. There is a little square hole on the back of the alternator that gets covered with gunk and becomes impossible to find when it does.

Then your carb must've been stuck in the lean setting.

It might be appropriate to ask if the carb is an aftermarket like a weber or if its the stock carb. some aftermarket carbs don't use the o2 sensor.
