I have a 1988 b2200, manual transmission. Above the drivers side kick panel. There is a plug, about 2" X 2" with a Blue wire w/white stripe & red marks among other wires running to this plug. I don't see it in my manual. This wire is nearly burned up & my truck runs like s#@t. Trying to trace a problem to see if it is my ignition. Timing is all correct & no vacuum leaks. STILL looking for the problem.

Where do the wires lead too? And if no luck finding it tomorrow i will look on my truck for you, mines an xcab manual 92 b2200 if it is to the ignition i can tell you tomorrow by un plugging it an seeing what results i get. Good luck finding your issues.

I've got a 1988 B2200, manual transmission. I can take a look Thursday morning, maybe Wed. after work.

Thanks for the help guys. Something on that plug goes to the ignition, it will not turn over when I unplug it.

So the engine will spin but won't start? All I see in the 1991 wiring diagram so far for a L/W or W/L wire is the idle up solenoid, so that can't be it. Any other clues than a blue/white wire?

Engine "turning over" means nothing definitive, could be either, people use the term all the time, and doesn't mean diddily to help isolate the problem..

No the engine will start & run. The ignition comes on but starter will not engage when I unplug the connector.

So the engine spins normally, but when this is unplugged the starter will not engage/spin the engine.

That makes me wonder if this is related to the start protection switch on the clutch pedal (which my '88 B2200 has), prevents starter from turning unless one has the clutch pedal pushed all the way down.

Does the plug / wires look like this?

I think those blue wires with the stripes and little brown bands go to the wipers, look at the wire inlet for the wiper motor.

Not quite that bad tweaker, but I think that is the wire yes
