changing distributor cap and wires, what's involved?

my truck like the other post describes (skips)
my b has kept up this sputter that's annoying the shot outta me, new fuel filter new pcv new plugs. logically next I masel replace the cal and rotor and wires. anything else I should look at in regards to dizzy operation?

If you just replace the cap, rotor, and wires, no need to even check the timing. But maybe timing should be checked.

Do the spark plug wires one at a time.

There's more than one way to install the rotor. Be sure to note the old one's position.
