Rad repairs are not feasible on these little rads anymore, not when you can buy a new one shipped for under $100

Disagree. Sometimes people want to keep the original equipment. A repair costs far less than $100 and I don't see many for under $100 shipped. A copper and brass radiator will last as long as the truck if properly maintained.

In Phoenix, I'd have to drive the opposite direction (like downtown, M-F) to reach a radiator shop. And of course do again after the radiator was repaired.

About 20 years ago there was a radiator shop about 4 miles away, no more.

So I'm adapting Angus' quote to be: radiator repairs are feasible, not often practical

For sure more people will just replace one but that does not mean repairs are not feasible for sure. This is the reason not many shops exist anymore. My dad closed his to come work for me building control arms in 2005. He was just tired of doing it.

People think a plastic and aluminum radiator is not repairable but that is not the case. We used to repair them all the time. Most repairs on those were replacing plastic tanks and gaskets.

Brass radiators most of the time a repair is a leaking hose connection.

My 1998 Frontier radiator started leaking at the gasket between the core and the top tank a few years ago. I called around, but faced with two trips downtown to get that fixed, I opted for new with a lifetime guarantee.
