So here's my issues.
1. Truck cuts off some times when driving and i stop. It just dies
2. down hill with truck in gear or not it kills
3. when i start the truck i have to pump the gas while i crank it

So here is what i have done. changed spark plugs and filter They were NASTY!
it is the 2.2L Carb. I am not really familure with carbs, but i am with a EFI engine. Please advise. Thanks aguys

Well I would take a look at your fuel pump.It is at the back of the engine on the passenger side mounted just below the valve cover. If is it seeping any fuel or never been replaced I would recommend this be done.Granted your pressing the pedal to start is normal on a carbed truck.Unless another issue like a blocked up egr valve could create a die and restart issue. In short the egr is mounted just below the carb and has 1 vacumm line,1 electrical plug and 3 ten mm bolts that hold it on.It mounts at a angle and make sure IF you remove it to note the position of the metal gasket once removed! Just use a toothbrush or screw driver to clean the carbon out and I use brake cleaner to remove the carbon.Reinstall and see what happens. You might want to ensure the pintal that moves up and down inside the egr moves freely (flat head screwdriver to pry) and so it is not sticking or stuck.Just some ideas and if I left something off or incorrect may others add/correct me.

At what RPM does the engine normally idle?

When it wants to run it runs at a healthy 1000-1100. but some times it will just start to shake and go down to 500 and shut off. If i rev it up it will stay on

It sounds like your EGR is sticking a little bit. Probably has a bunch of carbon built up and it isn't closing at idle all the way.

what is the EGR and pics of it what does it stand for where is it located

The EGR valve is the Exhaust Gas Recycling unit located directly under the carburetor on the passenger side of the vehicle. There are three 6mm bolts (10mm headed bolts) that hold it and the stainless steel gasket against the intake manifold. I don't have a picture to post.
