Trying to overhaul carb. Cannot get the top off of the
floatbowl body. Top is loose from bowl with small clearance
and has a piviting action near center if carb.( Just outside
of secondary ventura towards float bowl ) I have sprayed
penetrant oil assuming corrosion. I feel it should lift off or
maybe it's time for the crowbar and big hammer.
Any advice appreciated, Thanks in advance.

There is an o-ring that seals the mixture control solenoid against the base of the carburetor. You should be able to carefully pry the top half of the carb off the bottom half. (Without a big hammer)

That was it, little more pressure and it came apart. Thought
I might been overlooking something. Always best to ask when
not shure. This is a great fourm with lots of info. ( No ware and
tear on the hammer )
Thanks for the quick reply and info.

Glad you got it apart. Here is a for your information: The idle mixture jet is under a screw/plug almost directly above the external mixture screw. That jet has a teeny hole drilled into it which gets clogged and then it's hard to get the truck to idle. If you find the idle jet is clogged a small guitar wire makes for a good jet cleaner.

Thanks for the tip, i'll be shure to check the jet. Just got the
the truck, its been setting for about 2 years. Had bad fuel pump. Replaced pump, engine ran bad.Done tuneup, plugs
fouled bad from rich fuel, but ran OK except at idle. When i pulled carb off there was lots of raw fuel in manifold. Just pulled
it in the garage.Float position and needle look allright, found
a couple bad vacuum lines but thinking that would make it
leaner. Plan on replacing that maze if i can hose in 1 mile rolls.
Parts in cleaner tonight, i'll put the kit in tomorrow and maybe
find whats making it run rich. Thanks again
