90 Mazda b2200

Why does my truck stall with the top of the air cleaner on,but seems to runs fine if I leave it off? Its probably starving for air but with all the "pollution stuff" on it, where do I start? Any suggestions?

Try removing the 3 black hoses on the front of the air cleaner housing from the emission tubes that run off the exhaust manifold below. And Leaving your air cleaner lid on. My secondary cattilitic converter was so plugged up it was sending all this exhaust pressure into the air cleaner via those emission tubes. I removed to cat under the truck, and welded in a piece of exhaust pipe in its place. That cured my running problems of the same nature. But I have since installed a header and removed all exhaust side emissions. Left the Stock airclear and carburetor set up. My B runs like a top and my gas milage increased also. I did this a year ago.
