Hi guys I have a 1988 mazda b2200. I blew a head gasket and then pulled it apart and did a timing belt water pump and head gasket. I put it back together and now I need to put a little gas in the carb to get it to fire up and once I do it idles very high and then I give it a little throttle and it goes down and tries to cut out and I have to give it more gas to keep it going. I am not sure whats wrong I feel like I might have missed doing something while hooking the intake back up. When I did it I just pilled the intake off and then pulled the manifold with the carb and everything attached. If anyone has any advice or ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check your cam timing. From your description it sounds like the cam is retarded one tooth.

All things being aligned correctly, (crank, cam, distributor rotor to number one distributor terminal) sounds like a vacuum leak.
No one adjusted the curb idle, choke fast idle or carb. jet for any reason?
Does the engine have mechanical lifters?
