Workin on the '66 I'm using some new lightweight body filler, "Ultra-Lite Plastic Filler" I think...when sanding, it is getting really, REALLY hot...too hot to touch almost....is this normal? The regular body filler I've used doesn't get that hot....I can't even hand sand this stuff.
ur puttin to much hardener in it sounds like. light weight filler doesnt take much harder. gota think tis a chemical reaciton when u mix the 2 parts together.
This was getting hot after it was cured and I was sanding...I did put a lil' too much in and it set-up on me faster then I wanted, but not enough to make it hot while putting it on.
Baha-
I was using a pneumatic DA and a hand flex-board, both got it really hot. I'll try again tomorrow after it has cured overnite to see if it still gets hot or not.
yea thats what it is man, like james said its a chemical reaction sometimes it just reacts out of no where, I was showing my roommate how to fiberglass and he didn't know about using to much hardner haha it was funny so he starts glassing and all of a sudden you hear AAAH AAAAH AAAH it burned his hand it got so hot.
I mean, it cooled down after I stopped sanding, I'd sand again and it'd get hot again. Maybe it is just a chemical reaction...i'll see how it behaves tomorrow.
yeah, i failed physics...well, i never took it actually
I sanded on it yesterday, it still got hotter then the other stuff, but not nearly as hot as it was. Maybe I"m stronger then I think...lots of practice with the motion I guess.
