CA smog? Modified gas tank?

Hey I'm in cali and wanted to know if anybody had to take their mini to the referee to get the gas tank reviewed and passed to be clear to smog. They told me at the smog shop tnite that I need to get it refereed to pass. Anyone had to deal with this?? Thanks.

Well got recommended to a shop and the guy was cool with the tank. All emissions passed except the evap test limit: .004 mine: .999-gross polluter. So now I have to go through the evap lines to find out which one is leaking. SO the previous owners sheet metal job has to go so I can uncover the main lines do it up all sexy and sh*t.
