I'm looking for a rebuilt or new cylinder head--anyone know where I can get one? And what a reasonable price should be for it?

I've a 93 2.6 that makes lots of noise up in the valve area, and burns oil, until it gets warmed up properly. It's getting to the point now that it burns oil almost everytime I start it (enought to obscure a large swath of property) and I want to fix it.

It's also my daily driver, so I can't tear it down and take the head to the nearest machine shop (120 miles away) to have it fixed over a period of weeks. I need to tear it down and put it back together on a 3 day weekend.

checked the site, and could not find a head for a 2.6l--do you have a part # or did you have to call?

Here is one Nate, at Alabama Cylinder Heads.......looks like you'll need to swap your camshaft into it.

This should be a NEW casting also, not a refurbished Mazda head. Most of the head re-builder's are using the new castings that are made at Alabama Cylinder Heads, I believe.

Here is a little info on them.......

I actually bought a new head from Clearwater Cyl. Heads down in Tampa, FL and drove down there and picked it up.......was going down there to see the In-laws anyway.

Here's a few pics of it.....

I transferred all of the studs from the original cracked head to the new head before installing it on the rebuilt engine. He included a camshaft for me also, and I paid $400.00 plus dropped off an old cracked core for him as well.

Word of warning.......get a good book on these engines, like the factory service manual (PM me and I may be able to help you here) so you know exactly how to change the head out right the first time!
