Fuel pump cover is rusted solid to the bolts/screws that hold it on--I know this since I pulled the tank the other day, and it will take grinding/sanding to remove the fuel pump cover, and a drill/tap to fix the bolts that are left--and add to it we got a heavy wet snow, and I don't have a garage. Lots of fun in my future. Though I might be able to fix gas gauge issue at same time!

And I'm in the middle of nowhere that even a fuel filter is order in. Grrrr....
Can't wait several more days to fix stuff. Need car for work. Might have to try and get a cheap car tomorrow and fix truck after.

I'd try a genuine Vise-Grips on those rusted screws, or even cut a slot with a Dremel tool and try a screwdriver. Maybe cut off the screw heads with a Dremel tool, then using PB Blaster (or similar) and Vise-Grips to get the screw part out.

Remember to take precautions for fire danger when working on the gas tank, especially if you end up drilling.

Also, I know you tried a new relay. But I would confirm positive voltage actually getting to the fuel pump, and work my way backward to the relay, etc. if I didn't find positive voltage at the pump.

What I did for mine was the vice grip method, once they were loose I took a phillips to finish taking them off. I replaced the screws with bolts that have a 6mm head. Mine were pretty rusted, after Katrina hit the bed was destroyed on my truck. It sat on a farm for 2 years without a bed before I bought it. The vice grip trick worked well.

Not that this has anything to do with it, but it may relate? My truck does like to shock me when I've been driving, step out and make contact with the body (usually my leg hits just below the door)--nothing that hurts, just enough to identify it was an electrical shock.

I can hear the relay clicking on and off when I try to start the truck as well.

What wires to test for electricity getting to fuel pump? Which to plug red into, which for black?

Suggestions for testing wiring? I can't read wiring diagrams for the life of me, and am partially red/green colorblind--yeah wire harnesses aren't any fun.

And how to pick the bed up? Just the 4 bolts, unplug tail lights? Tip up, or back or jack stands? or 2 people and take it off?
