ok so im slowly buying parts for my build and saw a 11gal air storage tank f/s and was wondering if modding one of these would be wise or would i be better off buying one that has multi-ports already, the tank is 20bucks and it looks in good condition still holds air etc, but i just wanted to know if you guys would think it would be safe to get extra ports either welded on or tapped ?

How many ports does it have, and how many do you plan on using?

Personally I feel that the 8 port ones for sale just have to many ports. I would say 3 ports is all you need. Having less lines looks cleaner too.

1 - Drain
2 - Compressor In
3 - Bags Out

For modding I would say it's okay. Chances are you will want to make some custom tank mounts anyway. If your weld isn't air tight, you will find out real quick.

well the tank only has 1 port on it, and as for welding i was going to get a machine shop to do it for me i know the guy's and they'd do it for a good cash price, as far as how many ports i have no idea, im just looking for a clean and simple set-up to make it look like a factory truck from the outside as i plan on hiding everything

I like that look. They should be able to do it no problem. Do you have a pic of the tank?

that's pretty much what it looks like, roughly about 3.5ft end to end and mayb 1-2ft tall/wide

I would go with a smaller tank even if that tank is cheaper. You could make it work but that is a very large tank. I see now it is an 11 gallon.

Some of the other guys will chime in but I would say 5 gallon is plenty. You will need at least 2 high cfm compressors to fill an 11 gallon tank and be practical. Other wise you will have to wait awhile before being able to lift your truck.

i second what baha says. unless you wanna hopper and have some series of multilpe compressors 5 gallons is all you need for good crusing and some fun on the road. the fewer the ports usually means a cleaner look when you hiding/ routing the air lines and stuff. post some pics and start a build thread

ok, thanks for the advice guy's, yea that 11gal tank is only 20bucks but im sure i can prob get it for 15bucks...even the grease conversion wouldnt fill that thing quick? that's what i was also planning on doing, idk im a super novice at this lol, talk diesel or rotary and we've got a conversation but when it comes to putting a air sus set-up together im still learning, but eager to learn more, as for the build thread im along way from that, it's my daily and im workin on the rx7 on and off along with work 5 an a half days a week

LOL we would love to see any pics of what you are up to we just love seeing pics of projects in progress.

If you did an engine driven compressor it would fill it quicker than the electronic compressors, but 11 gallons is overkill.

I'd like to know what the pressure rating on that tank is. Most of those types of tanks I have seen are only rated around 100 psi or so.
