I think its gearing that is sucking the fuel mileage, around town I get amazing fuel mileage on the freeway forget it. used half a tank doing 60-70mph on freeway 100 miles round trip, seems to be in high rims all the way I've got a 92 b2200 with 5 speed and stock exhaust stock Carb etc. I thought about regearing I had a 92 explorer 4.0 v6 with auto and four wheel drive that had better fuel economy

Well you could always increase your Tire or rim size looks to me your running 40 series on either 15s or 16s...I have 245/45/17s on mine and I get around 23 mpg with the stock Carb and literally no motor mods. I've heard that back pressure deal is a myth but I may be wrong... On the Tire rim size u probably have a speedometer reading that's all jacked up too! Just a thought...

Ok some simple specs on my 87 b2200.It is a 5spd and 2wd,run accel wires, and coil and ngk plugs. All stock engine and exhaust front to rear all new in 2011.I run 225/70/15 and speedo reading is 5% slow. Some #s are at 25/24,35/34,45/44 etc.The highest difference was like actual spd 60 showing 58.Now the truck has always been strong, but when cat,and muffler were 10yrs plus old,cut cat out and def noticed a better performance with straight pipe there. The best I got overall was 22 city 29 hwy but years ago and no more than I drive it now I really don't care.Idk with these engines you can simply take good care of them and do simple things and leave it alone.Mines at 198k and close to a rebuild for rings but that is going to wait.Just my thoughts and new exhaust is 2.25 from down pipe back.

Mine is a 1992 B2200 FI, stock rebuild about 30,000 miles ago. Racing beat plug wires, NGK spark plugs, pacesetter header, 2" exhaust tubing welded up myself, high flow cat, stock 240sx muffler dumping off before the cat (I really like how it sounds). Intake tube and K&N air filter... but most importantly RX-7 5th gear conversion I did about 5 years ago. I do a lot of free way driving so this helped tremendously! Average 30mpg Hwy and 26-28 on the street (if I drive easy) I have a lot more power than my stock setup... well that is until I put 29" tall tires on it (which helped mpg's but killed off some power). still faster than stock though, plus its got a mean growl and it screams around 3,000rpm. Getting on the freeway I wind it up to about 5,000rpm (maybe alittle less) and it feels strong. I recently put a camper shell on it and to my surprise it helped mpg's even though it weighs about 100lbs. Aerodynamics maybe? Not a noticeable difference in power with it either! handling bec of higher center of gravity has a little more body roll but still reasonable. has anyone done a rear sway bar?
