Has anyone ever noticed the intake setup on a FI b2600 is arranged like it should have a turbo on it? the way the intake crosses smack over the center of the exhuast side of the head, and the amount of room on the exhaust side of the motor seems like it was designed to accept a turbo option.

How hard would it be to plumb in a newer subaru-sized turbo? And what does the ecm actually control in the truck (meaning if you put a megasquirt or such on can you just unplug it?)?

I pressume you'd need bigger injectors and a boost regulated fuel pressure system? Custom built header of course, but someone seems to have a lead on machined flanges for the exhaust.

Limit it to say, 8-10 psi?

Just brainstorming to see if I should start collecting parts for a turbo build sometime.

Google 1988-92 ford probe f2t...

That's not the Mazda fuel injected motor.
It's the Mitsubishi motor.
Huge difference!

F2t is still a different motor than the g6 2.6. There was a custom turbo kit for a 2.6fi for like $750 not to long ago. Had intercooler, all piping, custom exhaust manifold, turbo. Everything to boost a 2.6. Dont remember the psi it ran tho.

Maybe try one of the STS turbo kits? instead of bolting to a header it comes with the piping to put it inline with the exhaust. Saw the guys on Trucks! do it to a tacoma... pretty good idea

Good point, if only they'd state that clearly on the website and clearly that his b2600 is non-G54B in this thread.
There is no helpful information at all on that website.

lol. Sarcasm, the lowest form of wit.
But seriously there is lots of good information on that website on prep and things to consider regardless of engine.

while we're on this subject, with the amount of change and work to turbo the 2.6l, has anyone ever tried a 3800 II/III with a supercharger? Youd probably have to do megasquirt for a turbo anyways, so why not move things up a notch?
